Moving forward with Round 3

Harold’s labs Monday morning came back good enough to start Round 3 of chemo tomorrow. Platelets were at 111,000. He’s starting his new medication today, which he will take every day for the next 2 months (as part of a clinical study). If it helps with nausea and appetite, he’ll continue on it after the study is over too. We finally got the driving evaluation results yesterday. He PASSED! He is clear to start driving on April 8th. So look out people! I know that’s a lot taken off his shoulders. Only 22 more days to go!

As for his MRI, the Doctor said that the “hole” was getting smaller, when she compared it to the January MRI. The hole is still there, but it’s starting to close up more and more. We go back in May.

We had a pretty lazy weekend because of the rain. Holden caught a stomach virus that has been going around daycare. He was pitiful all weekend. He would just walk into the room where I was and lay on the floor. It’s mostly diarrhea. But then Saturday night, he threw up in the dining room. Yuck! He’s been at home with daddy yesterday and today. And, knock on wood, today, he’s not had any problems. Hopefully, he can go back to school tomorrow and give daddy a break. Luckily, no one else in the house has caught it! At first, we thought it was the antibiotic medicine he’s taking for his ear infection. It usually tears his tummy up. So we stopped the medicine Friday night, but his tummy didn’t. Holden has a follow-up appt next Monday with his ENT doctor. I have this gut feeling that his tonsils will need to be removed. They are HUGE! And they may be the culprit for the ear infections and his hearing loss. Long story…I’ll go into more detail once we meet with the doctor next week.

Things have been a little shaky at the Sublett house this week. Lots of emotions for various reasons. And my taxi light is almost burnt out! It’s been a L-O-N-G 6 months and I need a real vacation. (not the kind filled with doctor appointments!)
